Nerd alert!

Postby DoubleD on July 28th, 2007, 9:32 am

How do you quote someone and create that white box?

I have no clue on how to do all the cool stuff.

How do you put in a smiley? Bold? Anything?

Please help I am desperate!

Hi there DD: I'm no expert on this  , but I'll do my best.
To quote someone, you must be logged in. When viewing that person's post- to the right top of their post is a "quote" icon- click on that. It will quote the person's entire post in a new typing box of your own. Prompting you to type. I haven't figured out how to quote just a certain portion of a person's post- maybe someone else can help us BOTH out in that department.

The faces are called Emoticons. When your posting you'll see them to the left of your typing box. Click on the one you want- it'll add it to your post. Hope I helped a little.
Smiles,

Vanessa

To quote something, just copy and paste the text into the edit box (the box where you type your post). Then highlight it (by dragging the mouse cursor over it, while holding down the left mouse button), then click the quote button up over the edit box. You do the exact same for bold and italics. When you do this, you will notice that it inserts some special characters around the text you selected.

If you want to be a real nerd and have the quote include the name of the person, you can add ="name" directly after the first quote inside the first bracket (including the apostrophes). name can be whatever you want to appear. So to quote joe twitcher:

Code: Select all
OMG, I get the same thing!!!
this will display as:

joe twitcher wrote:OMG, I get the same thing!!!

Being a professional nerd, I used the "code" function to display the above example. :P

There is a spell checker for Internet Explorer at:

http://www.iespell.com/

But I have never used it. If I want something checked, I paste it from an empty MS Word document.
