another email from the neurologist friend I have

Postby Brian_B on August 6th, 2003, 1:15 am

I asked him how many cases has he seen of benign twitches

I don't have my American, Scottish, Ulster, and
African medical records with me so I am guessing. I
think I saw a case at least once or twice a month in
Seattle. I saw about the same rate in Scotland. About
half of them were doctors or nurses. Now I don't thing
that they are more common in medical professionals. I
just think that we notice them and worry more.

That means that many happy and uninformed people have
them and never care. So the real numbers may be twice
or thrice as high as I actually see.

I also suspect that there may be more than one cause
of BFS. Of course it is Benign because it is non
lethal. But they are definitely abnormal. But a wart
is also abnormal but also benign. A strained muscle is
abnormal but benign (except if it is in Randy
Johnson's left forearm.)

Ive said before he is the neurologist I know that has had BFS for 2 years

he has been the most help to me, its reassuring to know even a neurologist who should know better worries over twitching even though he knows he shouldnt

he has helped to me to for the most part to not let it concern me. Sometimes like him too though something happens and I worry all over again(something twitch a long time, or choke on food and just "know" you have ALS) but for most part I dont let twitches concern me anymore.

I wish my mom wasnt a nurse and I hadnt looked up twitches because if I hadnt and she wasnt, then I might have been in the general public that twitches but dont even bother to let it concern them

Yeah I know what you mean. If my uncle hadn't had ALS I would have never thought anything of twitching.
