Finally got around to filling this out!

1. Age - 34
2. Gender - Female
3. Race - Caucasian
4. Length of time you have been twitching? - 5 months
5. Was there anything that appeared to trigger the twitching? Job stress, cramping in calves, burning in shins
6. Do you have any Anxiety or OCD disorders? - yes, since childhood.
7. Any other medical conditions that may be connected to BFS? - clenching teeth at night,
8. Did you go through the typical ALS scare so common on this forum? - yes
9. Body region most affected? - Calves 24/7 random twitches elsewhere
10. Most unusual area affected? Groin buzzing & butt twitching

6. anxiety..but it only started after I started twitching and started worrying about ALS. No prior psyche problems

8. YES...BIG TIME!!!! Still going through that...though this site has helped
9. calves/arches of my fee 24/7
10. arches of my feet...I think this is weird, but I notice many others have this too..so maybe it's not so weird...feels weird though!

4.four months
5. Right after my pregnancy and I was under a tremendous amount of stress. The whole left part of my bod cramped and I was twitching everywhere at an unbelievable rate. It was the scariest thing.
6. I suffer from severe anxiety but I've been getting better.
7.No other disorders
8. No *** scare but the doc thought it was MS.
9. The twitching migrates
10. EVERYTHING twitches...even my tongue....and other stuff.....

Yes, I experience muscle pain, spasms,hot spots, joint pain, tingling, and all the other weird stuff. It's not nearly as bad as a few months ago, which gives me hope. Some days are better than others. I notice at the end of a hard day I may have a little more pain than usual but I can deal with it.....I'm just not the same person that I used to be.

twitching AND cramping for 2 months
have been under tremendous stress and also had lots of bouts of canker sores, fever blister, and light colds for 2-3 months prior
Definitely anxiety
No other disorders
Still am going through scare
cramping and twitching in calves
abdominal muscles

- STRESS, WORRY, ANXIETY !!!

- OCD since age 7

- None

- That would be an understatement !!!

- Between 2 and 3 months now
5. Was there anything that appeared to trigger the twitching. (i.e. viral infection)
- I had a stomach ailment of unknown diagnosis immediately preceding my bouts with twitching - pain - tightness - pins & needles etc!!! I am sure anxiety and stress have also fueled the symptoms.
6. Do you have any Anxiety or OCD disorders?
No diagnosed disorders per se however i am taking meds for anxiety now - have been for the past 2 months.
7. Any other medical conditions that may be connected to BFS?
Variety of symptoms all of which seem to have been experienced by some or most on this site.
8. Did you go through the typical ALS scare so common on this forum?
Of course - still am to some degree although this site has helped immensely !!!
9. Body region most affected?
Legs followed by arms then neck and eyes.
10. Most unusual area affected?
occasional twitch in lips

- Between 2 and 3 months now
5. Was there anything that appeared to trigger the twitching. (i.e. viral infection)
- I had a steroid injection one week prior to beginning of symptoms. Synthetic Fluorinated steroid known to cause muscle weakness - Betamethasone. I am sure anxiety and stress have also fueled the symptoms as I quit my job after 16 years in August to pursue a new career, my duaghter (second child), was born in April, and I had to move in June.
6. Do you have any Anxiety or OCD disorders?
No
7. Any other medical conditions that may be connected to BFS?
I had a running injury to my groin for the past four years which has not healed and was the reason I received the steroid injection.
8. Did you go through the typical ALS scare so common on this forum?
Yes. Still there, though this site has been reassuring.
9. Body region most affected?
Left foot / toes and top of foot, calves, thighs, arms.
10. Most unusual area affected?
abdominals

4. Twitching for almost 3 years
5. Began after Hepatitus B Immunization, followed by a viral infection
6. Never been dx with anxiety, I know I do have some...no meds though
7. No medical problems....acid reflux and hiatial hernia
8. ALS scare- yes, still to this day at times
9.My left calf and foot give me the most problems
10. I hate the tongue twitches, but I think the butt or abdominal spasms are the most annoying.

5. Maybe my IBS could be a trigger, my twichting started after a bad time with my stomach and inestine
6. Do you have anxiety disorder? Yes, since the time with IBS.
7. Valium could have been a trigger, too. I was afraid of cancer before I have got the twitches.
8. Of course. I'am still going through this fear.
9. Most affected areas. calves, thights and random twitches elsewhere.
10. Most unusual area affected: tongue and scalp

7. Any other medical conditions that may be connected to BFS? - Slightly overactive thyroid, dx 1994
8. Did you go through the typical ALS scare so common on this forum? - yes-still worrying immensely
9. Body region most affected? - random twitches everywhere, but persistant in tongue
10. Most unusual area affected? I hate the tongue twitches :(

Electric Shock (has anyone else heard of this being a trigger?)

6. Do you have any Anxiety or OCD disorders?

Suffering from Stress as of shortly after the Electric Shock

7. Any other medical conditions that may be connected to BFS?

No

8. Did you go through the typical ALS scare so common on this forum?

I've never heard of ALS and doc and neurologist didn't mention it to me, but did worry it might be something severe

9. Body region most affected?

Eyes, Upper arms and Upper Legs

10. Most unusual area affected?

Pretty much everywhere on my body (figure it out for urself lol)

- Since Nov 2006

- I believe that beginning a morning work out routine in which I did not hydrate myself coupled with lack of sleep brought this on, or exaggerated it initially. At least that's what I started right before I began feeling it.
6. Do you have any Anxiety or OCD disorders?
- ADHD - Psychologist theorizes that since I control my H part of the ADHD (which was present in childhood) that it is causing my brain to work really hard, and thus contribute to somatic symptoms, like headaches and twitches.
7. Any other medical conditions that may be connected to BFS?
Very occasional Migraines
8. Did you go through the typical ALS scare so common on this forum?
Oh baby, spent many a tearfilled prayer after that fateful google.
9. Body region most affected?
thumbs and forearms, specially right thumpads, left bicep, nostrils, eyes.
10. Most unusual area affected?
I think my upper lip is the weirdest, I feel like Elvis.

5. Was there anything that appeared to trigger the twitching? The flu, Very stressful job.
6. Do you have any Anxiety or OCD disorders? Yes, GAD.
7. Any other medical conditions that maybe connected to bfs? No.
8. Did you go the typical ALS scare so common on this site? Yes.
9. Body region most effected? 24/7 calves, Arms,hands, fingers throughout the day. Quite annoying. Random twitches pretty much everywhere.
10. Most unusual area effected? Ear, lip, Foot buzzing.

Hi everyone! I've just joined after reading this site for more than a year now!
1. age 36
2. gender female
3. race caucasian
4. length of time have been twitching: 16 months
5. infection had a bad sinusitis 4-5 months before beginning of the twitches
6. before the twitching I had no anxiety or OCD disorders, but a lot of stress
7. no other medical condition
8. ALS fear - definitely still am going through!
9. body region most affected: calves (every minute of the day,up to 17 times per minute!), left arche of the feet (24/7), left eyelid after every single blinking (since 6/06), everywhere you can think of - the twitches are since time of beginning increasing - now I feel twitches after moving a limb, after caughing, .... sometimes up to 15 times in series in one region - there is NO MINUTE without twitching!!
10. unusual affected area.. everywhere

Is there anybody who can tell me his/her story how to handle with the increasing number of twitches? I couldn't find a way out of the growing anxiety! :(
