Tongue Twitches

Postby Noturnus on May 24th, 2017, 11:05 pm

I have BFS for almost nine years.
Learned to handle the condition and was fine until now.

A small stop on the tip of my tongue got a NON STOP and VERY FAST twitch.
The twitch happens when the tong is at rest on the floor of the month and when it is protuded.
It is literaly non stop and it is like this way for 2 days already.

I am panicking right now.
Does someone here correlate with this?
A non stop localized fast tongue twitch?

Went to a neurologist I know who also is specialized on EMGs.
I showed her the constant twitch and she said that it was very visible.
She said her did not think the hotspot was caused by fasciculations but she would poke it with a needle and check just to be sure.

After she inserted the needle, she told me to steak out my tongue and after this she said there where no fasciculation potentials on EMG.
I asked her to poke again on the twitching site and she did again (knowing I was very anxious). She poked again, told me to stick my tongue again, and repeated, there is no fasciculation potential here.

She wrote on the report that was electrical silent at rest with full interference pattern and normal motor units on the same spot where my tongue is flicking NON STOP 2 times per second.
The flicking is constant... it does not matter if my tongue is at rest on the bottom of my mouth of it is being sticked out... is simply does not stop... and it is that way for 2 days already.

Is it possible for a muscle to twitch with electrical silence on EMG?

Hey-

I have a constant one at the tip and several ones all over. Two ALS neuros have seen them and said they are not concerning. I've had bfs for 13 years and mine have been going on for two years non stop. Join the Facebook group "bfs recovery". Tons of people in our group have them and have been cleared.
