Why there are no new members?

Postby crotwich on February 28th, 2015, 7:53 am

I am wondering why there are no new registered members on this board? As I see, the last new member (Jarick1922) joined on 14th October 2014. Is it maybe because every new member needs to be authorized directly by the forum administrator, JohnV, and he doesn't anymore process the authorization requests? If so, is it possible that garym becomes a forum administrator (or just to change the registration procedure)?

There are multiple people on the Facebook group complaining that they have not been able to register for this group even though they have tried numerous times for registration.

Garym, is there anything you can do to assist here?

Thanks,
Greg

I just clicked on the newest member listed at the bottom and it says he was added October 13,2014. Can that be right? So, no new members in nearly 5 months?

Unfortunately JohnV is the only one that can approve new members....I will try to contact him.

Gary, have you heard anything? I was just contacted by Christina on Facebook and she has been trying to reset her password without success. Was John in charge of this, too?

Hi Suzi,

unfortunately JohnV is the only one that can controls those types of issues.....as an unpaid pee on, I'm helpless in these types of matters. I can ban users, but I can't reset their passwords ;). I've tried to contact John without success, and have reached out to Arron as well. He hasn't gotten back to me.....I have to say that I'm more than a little concerned for the site at this point.

wish I could help.

It took weeks for "whoever does these things" to approve me when I asked.

Maybe someone should start a new site and invite all the current members. Post a link at the top (pin it) so that potential new members can find the new forum

Just brainstorming. It's a real shame. He should hand over the reins if he's no longer interested or too busy.

Does anyone who is reading this can find out some contact number (or address) of John Voorhis or Arron Johnson? If so, please contact them and let them know what's happening.

I've tried to contact John and have corresponded with Arron. He is trying to get in touch with John. I haven't heard back from Arron yet.

In that case I hope Arron or John will respond soon. Fingers crossed. :)

I contacted John V through LinkedIn back in October 2013 because I wasn't getting in. If anyone wants to try that. Hope he's okay!

Maybe another administrator can be given the ability to approve new members and reset passwords?

I hope things work out. I can not emphasize enough how much support I got from reading the posts in this forums during the last year.

I can't believe the owner just lost interest. It would be a tragedy if the forum just disappeared.

I think we all agree with this. There are many twitchers who post on ALS forum since they cannot register here. Gary, is there any alternative you would suggest? I can think of one, but it's rather extreme: To bribe someone to hack the site in order to give you administrator rights. :P (I'm not sure if I'm kidding.)
