Downward Spiral and new twitch

Postby RIno468 on January 7th, 2015, 1:29 pm

I vented a few days ago and now I need support --

I had sporadic body wide twitches which led me to believe and be scared of ALS.

I went to my local GP who knows about my health anxiety issues -- she made me squeeze her hands and some strength tests and said I was fine and referred me to a therapist to assist wuth my anxiety. I asked about an EMG and she said there was no need for one since I wasn't showing any weakness.

With that said I went to therapy got on some Prozac and for the most part the body wide twitches seemed to have been contained. My normal hotspot in my calf rarely goes off and the random twitch episodes I get are minimal.

However the last two weeks I have slept on the floor (our house is being remodeled so we stayed at a friends house) and ever since then my back and lower shoulder tricep have been twitching -- not non stop but often enough that its sending me into a tizzy.

My main question is -- do "new" hotspots develop? I have never been diagnosed with BFS but since I have no weakness that I can tell and my doctor wont get me an EMG then I suppose I have some sort of anxiety related issue -- but right now I think that its all localized in one spot / area and now I may be in trouble -- thoughts?

New sleeping pattern, back issues should be investigated.

Ive thought about that too -- I have been in a nice comfy bed the last two days with no help, I am hoping that's it and it just takes a few days for my nerves to get sorted out.

How are you doing Peralta? Any updated news?

My neuro, "ALS Specialist", cleared me. However, I am perplexed by why he did not examine my Trapezius muscle. Anxiety reigns.

Anxiety is the mayor of bfs town it seems.

However I am glad to hear that everything appears to not be worst case scenario.

Hey RIno, yes, totally normal for new hotspots to develop. I am over three years into this and I have new hotspots developing all the time still at this long into BFS. It's totally normal and your sx seem a bit mild at this point. Listen to your doctor and try not to think too much about it.
Cheers-
