7 Years and Counting

Postby GuitarGuyBMG on December 7th, 2014, 2:30 pm

Hey everyone!

I was active in the community about seven years ago and like most everyone here, my main fear was ALS. In fact, I had more reason to worry than most; I had a great aunt who was dying of ALS at the time. She was 82 years old, and it was the sporadic type. The fear consumed me - I stopped going to class regularly because what's the point right? I was sure I had ALS. The twitches became more severe, and to make matters worse a GP at my university health clinic was "very concerned" and sent me to a neurologist. The tests came back fine, and I was still stressed about it for a long time.

I was 19 at the time, but here I am 26 and things are better. I graduated, bought a home, have a successful career and a family. I still twitch, probably as much or close to as much as I used to, but it doesn't phase me anymore. Things will get better guys, I'm proof of that.

Thanks for stopping by and telling us. At the height of my own fear some months ago it was posts like these in the archives who kept me sane.

Take care!
