To go to the true *** specialist?

Postby LKP1231 on December 3rd, 2014, 7:39 am

I guess I know the answer here. I have an appt with a clinic that is for *** only. Those who read my posts know my emg was not clean. The neuro is saying the denervation in two spots in my legs (one in each but different areas) is from my back. The problem is that the back issues are not that bad to cause motor denervation from what I can tell. Stenosis on one side, small herniation on the other. I think the idea is to explore anything else rather than give a fatal diagnosis. I had a second opinion which was silmilar based on the same test results, no new tests were done. It just doesn't add up from many of the things I've read here. So I guess it's prudent to see the specialist. I just thought if I put it off then I get some time just in case it's bad. But I'm going crazy anyway. It would be months if I had to reschedule.
Looking for opinions. Thank you.

I have the same issue which truly is from my back. Herniation and scoliosis. I met with the *** nuero today and she said absolutely it can cause those things. I have no back pain, I do have sciatica though but that is resolving, I also have minor atrophy.

I absolutely believe what your docs are saying, this is from your back, the nerve is irritated and therefore the muscles are feeling the result of it. If it gives you peace of mind, I would see the *** clinic doctor. If that can make you feel better, do it. Its worth the mental well being, but I know they will tell you the same thing your other 2 docs have said, and the same thing my 2 Neuros have said :)

Thanks dolphin. I'm sure I'll wind up going. I've waited over 2 mos for this appt.

Oh LK -- you know that NONE of us here believe you have ALS -- something may be wrong, but it isn't fatal.

Remember, while youre EMG wasn't "CLEAN" as you describe it -- it was "CLEAN" in the context of ALS.

However -- I do hope seeing a specialist in this arena will finally give you closure to this part of your twitching adventure.

I would take a hefty bet at very skinny odds that this specialist will confirm what the other 2 have said.

Will anyone lay it for me?
