Has anyone else noticed trends? Many BSFers complain or notice new symptoms at the same time. For instance, the past couple days have been many posts about hand twitches both here and on facebook. Makes me wonder if this has anything to do with phases of the moon. My hands have been going crazy the past two days. I found it reassuring actually to see your photos you posted of perceived atrophy because mine look just like that. I have been trying to avoid looking at my hands because it induces anxiety. I compare them with other people's and when I explain I think my hands look disgusting, they laugh at me and I'm sure it does sound strange. It is like having Body Dysmorphic Disorder. If you don't know what that is, look it up. Maybe what we go through (looking for, and convinced that we see, atrophy) is a form of it. It is also related to OCD and absolutely difficult to convince the person suffering that there is nothing wrong. I have seen this happen to people and it is a perplexing disorder. For example, a person is convinced they have bags under their eyes and are so repulsed by this that they refuse to remove their sunglasses, constantly seek plastic surgery, but their eyes and the area under them are completely normal. If you have thenar atrophy, then so do I. And I just saw a neuro, MND specialist, two weeks ago and he said after examining my hands "there is no atrophy there." I am determined to believe him.

Thanks guys! Is it normal to get these twitches on a contracted muscle? The twitches on my hyper thenar usually happen when the muscle is contracted.

If you are referring to the dent on the side of your hand when you stretch out your pinkie - i would imagine we all have that because you are stretching your finger backwards so the skin wrinkles. I've got them.

I'm bumping this because I've started having this issue the last few days. Sometimes I don't even have to flex my pinky for this to form. For some reason this "twitch" has me more worried than others. My twitching has only recently started affecting my arms and I'm worried as *** supposedly starts mostly in the arm.
