Postby Sadface on October 13th, 2014, 2:42 am

Blinking heck
Just to add to my list of symptoms
I've also noticed clonus : when my right foot has my heal slightly of the floor my whole leg shakes crazy. I can't control it. If I hot my leg it does it even more!
Is this further mnd evidence?
Twitching
Soar points
Stiff joints
Now clonus???

So fed up now
Please help and be honest

Apologies twitchy doc I didn't realise I'd asked this before as I've not long since noticed.
I thought it was the repetitive shaking of a muscle, which I thought this was . Although i appreciate my neurology skulls are via the Internet.

weakness! where is your clinical weakness? this is a symptom of motor neuron disease.

not twitching (non-specific)
not stiffness (most probbaly caused by muscle strains due to postural problems or self-test)
not sore points (caused by the same above reasons)
not stiff joints (most probably caused by local nerve compression, especially in hands)

Ankle movements in the tiptoe position IS NOT a clonus but a VERY VERY common issue (I have it since I can remember myself), especially in anxious people. Doctors knew that since early 1900s and even called it "anlke pseudo-clonus"

Clonus is induced by fast, suddent passive stretching of a muscle - that is why your neurologist lifts your foot and then briefly jerk with it toward the knee (so that the calf muscle is flexed quickly) while your muscles are relaxed.

Primary doctor doesn't refer me to neurology

They will do blood tests for inflammation for arthritis

I openly ask re mnd. They state they don't believe it is as no real progression in 14 months.

They said my hands are skinny and palms are thin. But no concerns raised.

Why do I still think mnd ?

If it wasn't for the twitches it would be MS I'd be leaning get towards.

and they are right. to get any notable neurological deficite after 14 months of twitching would bring you into all medical journals as a rare outlier...

Why do I still think mnd ?

Most probably because of mood disorder. It is quite expected in our community.

Yes maybe your right.

It's strange when you feel sensations and symptoms so widespread.

Please can I ask you twitchy doc - can MS cause twitches?
I don't fear MS if I'm honest, just mnd.
Obviously I don't want to have either. However, primary doc said doesn't think mnd bit didn't comment on MS

Sadface: MS in general causes jerking of whole muscles, spasms, not fasciculations because MS has different pathology than MND,

I just don't know what the explanation is.
I thought joint symptoms were common with mnd? I'm concerned that my skin on hands is so think I can see tendons moving. I'm concerned that this is mnd symptom as damaged my nerves.
Please look (although I'll delete soon.)

You can see the strange nodules and it feels strange
Moving nodules?: http://youtu.be/a1Oz6AdWbrs

if I didn't have the widespread constant twitching I think I'd not be so hung up about it all

Usually MND does not affect joints in a degenerative way. Artritis is a specific disease of joints.

as for nodules which could be seen on yur palm, I would rather ask a doctor if this is something of interest. I am not a specialist in human anatomy to say it could be a variant of normal palm condition or not. But anyway unless those nodules do not prevent you from using fingers, they may be really a variant of anatomic structure.
