New issues...Worried again

Postby Pascal35 on October 8th, 2014, 9:15 am

Hi Everyone,

After some weeks of letting my fears go here i am again ready to visit again a neuro during the next hour...
My issues at present are:
1. Tongue tingling and small twitching (this has happened again in the past and had a clean EMG) and also some strange feeling in the jaw (like it's almost ready to cramp)
2. Strange pain in the inside of the thigh area when i lift my right leg - It feels like i have a strain but i never remember to have injured it. This is there for quite a long time
3. Quite often twitches on the right side of my back (low in the back)

I have really lost my hope that i would ever get away of this ALS fear... Immediately after my stress gets high i start to recall my ALS fear, all my symptoms come back and new ones appear.
This neuro that i am going today has got an EMG machine at his office but to be honest i am very scared to have another EMG... I have done so many over the past 11 months (around 20) and the only abnormal findings were in 1 or 2 of those EMGs (some fascics in the calves) coincidentally to this neuro that i am going today.
In actual fact this neuro was the one who made me crazy last December (almost at the beginning of this issue) when the EMG machine was making noises and he wasn't sure if those noises were fibs or movements because my muscles weren't relaxed. He concluded that everything was normal BUT the problem was already created for me.
Since then i got panicked and had to make ALL of those many more EMGs to clear the air and get reassured.

Anyway, he also got a TMS machine (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) - Have you heard about it and how conclusive can it be in diagnosing or excluding ALS?

Thanks for taking the time to read my post

TMS is used for an improved version of neuroconduction test as far as I can understnad. People who do it say it is quite veird feeling :))) My own doctor had such testing due to her spinal disc issue and it quite demonstrated that one of her legs is badly denervated...

So if you want another test, maybe :)))

Which would suggest that EMG, TMS etc isn't what you need. You need to get a handle on the anxiety.

Yes, I know that sentence above could be filed under 'stating the bloody obvious' or 'no bloody help at all' but it needed saying :)

Re:New issues.Just had a TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulat

Hi Guys - Just had a neurological exam and the TMS done.
Actually the neuro told me that this test explores the UMN and it is very sensitive and conclusive.
Quite unpleasant - it feels like an electrical shock in the head.
Anyway the results were normal. Both neuro tests and TMS (UMN) so i feel better.
Thank you all for your responses and comments
