Very wise words from "elliottok" and I completely agree :)

I completely agree with Elliott because here's the pattern that has gone on in here for years now:

Neurologist: "These symptoms are benign. You don't need an emg. The clinical is all we need to know you are OK. Go live your life."

Patient: "Phew. I'm so relieved. I'm going to create a post about my doctors visit. Wait, someone just posted something on here is saying that I still need to worry? Oh no, my neurologist might be wrong!"

And the cycle continues.

My doctor told me 3 years ago that I would be fine. But I kept feeding into the fear, partly by reading some of the posts from people in this thread. That fear ruined a good year of my life. But guess what? Here I am 3 years later running marathons and functioning normally. Still twitching from head to toe including my tongue every minute of the day. Looking back, my neurologist was right all along.

Elliott is right. Listen to your neurologist and don't let anyone on here feed your fear.

And I'd like to third (fourth?) what was said here by Elliott and something I've said before: listen to your neuro. Nobody here can examine you. Nobody here is a practicing neurologist with daily clinical experience. The guy or gal you've managed to dismiss after reading the Walton papers or reading some 1/99000000 case mentioned here by a member has that experience. I hate to say this because most of you here are truly amazing, but I think this website at times causes more harm than good. One stray bullet and we are all back in our anxiety states not living our lives.

btw, I don't think I've ever heard a "doctor" tell someone to "shut up" before. That's a first for me. -Matt

God you are like a bunch of old fishwives banging your gums....he said this./.she said that...oh a doctor can't say shut up....honestly stop and listen to what you intelligent people are allowing yourselves to descending into. Neville if someone saying shut up on a forum "unnerves and SHOCKS you" then that's a bit sad.

Wake up, say your piece, but this is all beginning to sound idiotic. People from all backgrounds say shut up. ....... Elliot is a lawyer..... am I shocked he called people *beep*.....no not at all, it doesn't unnerve or shock me in the least, it unnerves me a bit that he seems to attack Joyce who at her own admission is feeling suicidal and told her to get over it and up her dosage, called her irrational, told her she knew nothing about medicine despite her being a nurse, and used such words as irrational, and dismissed her anxiety and worries as being crazy anxiety, I find that a bit more concerning that someone saying shut up.

Ok I'll say my piece: as a PhD myself, I nominate myself the forum doc. I hold a PhD from UT in Lit. Any and all medical questions should be directed my way and I'll use my experience to serve you. In fact, I'm such a great doc I will tell you thigs you didn't even want to know just because I can! I will contradict myself and offer medical advice for free despite not seeing you personally and not seeing patients in a clinical setting!

I'm sorry but it's frustrating. And I'm not the only one who thinks so.

That's a good idea, but what happens the first time someone tells you to shut up......get unnerved and shocked......come over all funny and have to run put your head under a pillow. Fat lot of good you will do as an our hounourly doctor living in a giant puffball of cotton wool.

Think I am getting good at this fishwife thing.

PS adding such a statement as ......I am not the only one that thinks this...sorry is that suppose to influence how I feel. This forum is about individuals replying, not about building up a pack of wolves. Or did you say " I am not the only one thinking this" because you are wanting other people to wade in on me because I am having my say.

Take your childhood psychological interpretations and go amuse yourself. I would tell you to shut up but as I am also a doctor then it may bring on a fainting fit.

Hahahaha, fair enough. Look: as I've said many times before I've got no problem with the science being thrown around on this forum, but I mean come on...do we (anxiety ridden twitchers) need to know about this or that rare presentation?

I don't give a s h i t anymore so I'm just gonna say this: Docens way of delivering Information to non doctors AS IF HE IS AN AUTHORITY AND GIVING ADVICE TO PEOPLE ON A FORUM IN THAT POSITION OF AUTHORITY (not to mention his grenade comments--"here's some rare form of this you didn't know about as an aside" etc-- is UNETHICAL. Any doctor on any medical forum--hell your friggin primary doc over the phone--want say anything either way WITHOUT AN EXAMINATION. This guy looks at videos and offers advice from the position of doctor. I don't think he means to mean any harm but he is not in the right twitching headspace to be here under the pretense doctor: he still worries after 10 FREAKIN YEARS. What he called a constant tongue twitch back in the day twitcherhh would has laughed at; to tell us that some doctor told him bfs doesn't happen above the waist is laughable--what's the *beep* POINT WHEN NEARLY EVERYONE HERE TWITCHES ABOVE THE WAIST?!
