I saw a hypnotherapist to help me calm down back when I was experiencing some of my worst symptoms. The session was so calming I noticed a significant reduction in the twitching, but it didn't go away completely at that point. It gradually came back over the next few days. That's when I started to use self-hypnosis, which was somewhat successful and definitely helped. I just used my own inner monologue to replay what the hypnotherapist did from memory. For whatever reason I was never able to go as deep on my own as I was with the hypnotherapist, but it was probably because I was a little nervous and didn't 100% trust myself. It helped though, so it was worth it. Plus it got me comfortable with the concept which I later adapted to meditation. Its been a game changer in my life. Alcohol and drugs I don't view as healthy alternatives. They might temporarily help, but I've found the natural techniques are far longer lasting and far more fulfilling (not to mention health beneficial).
