Hey everyone! A fun new symptom! Anyone else have it?

Postby Davey on February 3rd, 2005, 2:47 pm

Over the past almost 4 years, I've had almost every symptom mentioned in this forum. Now, I think, I have a new one.

It started a couple of weeks ago, when I began to get some sudden bulbar involvement. This happened fast, in a matter of days. My voice would get hoarse easily, I felt like I had a lump in my throat when I swallowed, my old lisp that I went to speech class for when I was a kid came back, I got tongue and neck twitches, and the right side of my face would get numb.

But, by far, the most annoying new symptom is excessive salivation. My saliva glands suddenly began working overtime. I have to swallow every 10 to 20 seconds or I begin to drool. Right now, the glands on the right side are overproducing, which is the same side that is experiencing the parasthesia. Luckily, it shuts down when I sleep, or I'd have a nice drool spot on my pillowcase. Fun, fun!

So, has anyone else experienced this fun symptom? Good thing I see my Neuro next week for a routine follow-up for my hypothyroidism. Reading the Hart et al. (2002) article on PNH, several patients experienced bulbar involvement and pharyngeal disfunction. Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) was commonly observed according to Hart et al. as well.

Is there no end to the fun and interesting things that BFS/PNH cause?

I get excessive salivation too, along with tongue & facial twitching. Fun, isn't it?

I had the excessive salivation and swallowing problem too. I thought it was just me. The problem went away on its own when my anxiety decreased. Good luck... I know what your going through.

My fun and interesting symptoms went away 10 years ago when I developed a un-fun and un-interesting twitch in my right ankle :? . Since then my entire body has become overwelmed with these fun(yeah right :!: ) and interesting (Oh sure :?) symptoms. I am havig about as much fun as a hemopheliac in a briar patch
