Hate BFS, hate this brain fog and feeling of pressure

Postby Pete Borota on February 26th, 2012, 12:52 pm

In my head. Really feel uneasy as my brother in law passed away with brain cancer on Monday. Do I think I've got that no... But I'm really nervous of MS. I've been to see the Neuro recently and he sent me packing saying he's an MS specialist and I have not got MS, but I know it's very difficult to diagnose. My fasics are very light if not stopped. But I've got burning in my buttocks and this fog. It's scary :(

Anyone else suffering similar :D :(

I've had MS ruled out despite presenting with diplopia, parasthesias, and gait abnormality, plus the usual BFS symptoms. And I just had a massive brain fog last Wed. and Thu. It's frustrating, but I've been at this long enough to realize that it won't get worse unless it gets worse, and until or unless that happens, I just don't worry (at least not much) about it.

I've had BPS and related symptoms since December 2000. I've not actually been officially diagnosed with BPS, but my primary care doc considers it at least part of what's going on with me. Since I have borderline thrombocytopenia, subclinical hypothyroidism, and other autoimmune issues, plus some problems in my cervical and lumbar spine as seen on MRIs, my situation may be more complicated that the typical person here.

I live in a constant state of brain fog. Always struggling to find the right word or just flat out forgetting what I was talking about. I find it hard to concentrate on any task for too long and often move from one thing to another, getting everything done halfway.

Frances, AOI what do you take for the burning? I want to go and speak to my Neuro, he's tried to be good to me and assuring me that I've not got MS but my brother in laws death from Brain cancer has hit me and I'm worried about my symptoms.

It's lovely to talk to people who understand.

Sorry that sounds like a stalker statement :D  :D

I've been taking Savella (SNRI for fibromyalgia) for nearly 2 months now. I would estimate it has cut the burning in half. I still do have some, but that is explained by lumbar spine issues. I'm not sure anything will cure that! I tried gabapentin but it made my anxiety go through the roof.

I've taken up exercise and strength training to strengthen my core muscles to take some stress off my back, but for the most part am learning to push on despite the pain and burning. There are times it is unbearable, and during those times I take Ultram. So far, I'm yet to find the magical pill, exercise, or therapy to make it all go away.

By far, the burning, pain, tingling, and other sensory issues are worse than the twitching.

Brain fog can just be anxiety driven. Sometimes referred to as depersonalization. A kind of detached feeling. Just an idea

Frances,

Thanks for the advice. Like you most of the fasics have gone and I'm left with brain, fog, pins and needles, and burning :( I'll take your thoughts to the Neuro.

do you think that twitches and this feeling of brain for are caused by anxiety, or maybe anxiety is caused by damaged, infected, annoyed or malfunctioning nervous system ? I think thats the big question, which cause is real or most important in BFS.

But who can tell that for sure?

Anxiety is generally one of the most frequent and normal mental reactions in our life (usually the most non-anxious and relaexed persons are those who have certain mental disabilities). Certain infections, like viral meningitis, might provoke some agitation and even rage attacks before the person gets suppressed in the course of disease, certain brain traumas induce depression, etc.
I have Ellers Danlos syndrome in rather moderate form (joints hypermobility), and few inavoidable separation issues in my early chidhood were enough to make me GAD sufferer for lifelong with prominent separation phobic issues- that is because EDS people are about 16 times more prone to GAD and depressions than overall population - but why? Nobody knows yet. We have certain deficiency in collagene formation and that is all, but also seems like there is something wrong on chemical and brain structure level allowing us easily develop GAD/OCD/depressions.

Anyway anxiety, if over normal necessary levels, should be controlled. No matter wheter it is primary or secondary to our syndromes.

You sound like a long term Lyme and or co infection case. Forget the Negative blood tests you may have had. Just consider all the symptoms . Take a peak over at Lymenet
