My symptoms have returned after four years

Postby muskles on January 25th, 2012, 10:10 am

This appears to be the most widely read and closest forum to what I now think is Neuromyotonia or Isaac's syndrom (or PNH), of which, BFS is a subset.
I am a 37 year old male. Four years ago, my symptoms first appeared after lying in bed and experiencing an electric shock down my right leg. The next day, the muscle twitching started occuring. Soon after, joints in my legs felt like they were being attacked by my own body. I had pain in the nerves under my knee cap and muscles which connect my foot to my leg.
I have seen a handful of specialists based on which disease I thought I had at the time: Neurologist, Emory Neuro to rule out ALS, Rheumatologist, Pshycologist.
Here is the list of diseases and order in which I thought I had it:
ALS MS Rheumatoid Arthritis Parkinson's Huntington's Disease and now Isaac's
My symptoms from four years ago lasted approximately six months, remitted, and have now returned for the past two months. I believe many of my symptoms from four years ago were psychosomatic. The mind is very powerful and can manifest symptoms based on your fears of what you read. I am a true believer in that.
My current symptoms seem to be unilateral ( on my right side) except for the fasiculations. Those are sporatic across my body and can be light twiching near the top of my skin, as well as, deep twiching which can move a limb. Some days I may have muscle fatigue or unsteady gait and others I may feel bradykinesia (slow to move) or uncoordinated.
I also feel that the weather may play a factor in my syptoms and hope once warm weather returns, my symptoms will disappear.

Hi there, sorry to hear you are going through this. it all sounds very similar to what I have been through. I also get a sense of bradykinesia which really freaked me out at first. When I think back I did have some symptoms years back and like you it disappeared only to return with real vengeance last year. I am learning towards the idea this can be caused by conversion /somatoform or commonly know as psychological disorders. I have worked on psychiatric wards and have seen a lot of physical manifestations of psychological distress

Sorry you are back. I've had my various symptoms come back 4 years later. For me the first few times were limited to pelvic pain and torso twitches. only when it switches up to calves and shoulders did i realize it is all the same thing. the upside to your story is just like it can come back again, it can go away again.

For me the anxiety connection is clear, but i realize that for others it might be something else. In my case, keeping prolonged stress down is crucial to keeping symptoms away.
what, me spell?
