“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket – safe, dark, motionless, airless—it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable.”
C.S. Lewis

I love this quote and it reminds me of my recent battle with anxiety. Anxiety stole my ability to love because I was so wrapped up in my own paranoid, self centered world I locked my emotions away and they began harden my heart.

That is so true but I have felt so vulnerable, I now want to be impenetrable :( Thanks for that one Frances, that has really struck a cord with me especially at this time.

Why is it called 'after dark' when it really is 'after light'?

“Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.”

Terry Pratchett
