I know some of you are docs and many others are parents, and I was wondering if any of you guys know if I can use afrin on my nearly 5 y/o son? the label says 6 and up, but he is extremely congested and none of the others meds are working. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Gary

The nose spray should not hurt him Gary if you try to use a smaller amount but please dont use it more than 2 days, it can have a horrible rebound effect, many people end up stuck on Affrin. Something that works wonders that we use on our kids, Umcka. Its homeopathic but you can google this one and its effectiveness has several studies to back it up. It comes in a sweet tasting berry flavor for kids and we use it everytime our kids start showing signs of flu or cold. It works very well, has no side effects, and they seem to recover from illness quite rapidly.

Hope the little one feels better soon, will throw prayers your way :D

Take care Gary

My pediatrician used to always recommend Afrin pediatric nose drops - they aren't easy to find but did the trick with no problems.
