What is your connect: wireless or cable?
Do you have laptop or desktop.
It's a risky to allow notebook/laptop to fall down into hibernation mode. Specially if you are connected by wireless router (gateway).

My advice would be to go out and buy yourself a Laptop and a hammer. You see, the trouble with computers is that they never accept any responsibility. It's never their fault is it - its never Window's fault. No, it's always your fault it screwed up. It's your fault it decided to freeze when you're in the middle of some important work. You're the one to blame for it losing all your documents.

So newly armed with your glossy new Laptop and your shiny new hammer, wait for it to freeze once more. Then after having to shut it down by pulling the plug, in the full knowledge that you've just lost all your work, wait for it to tell you that.- Because Windows wasn't shut down properly it will now have to check the drive for error's - at which point you pick up the hammer and administer unto it a lesson in taking responsibility. Not only will this make you feel good, but afterwards you've your recently purchased sparkling new laptop to play with. Word of caution. Don't throw away the hammer, because Vista still has glitches.
"The wonder of the world, the beauty and the power, the shape of things,
their colours, lights and shades; these I saw. Look ye also while life lasts."
