I"ll be gone for a while

Postby Cardu on December 24th, 2007, 12:00 pm

Hey all, as if BFS isn't enough stress for me, I ended up getting a pace maker put in on Saturday. I am 37 darn years old and have a pace maker!
Long story short, my heart has been racing for about 3 weeks.....had EKG's, echocardiograms, and wore the heart monitor for 24 hours. My heart was racing for like 10 beats and then stopping completely for 3.5 seconds pretty consistently. So, I am on beta blockers to slow the fast beats and my new pacemaker friend will kick in when my heart decides to take it's 3.5 second rest.
So, just wanted to let you know what was going on with me.
Merry Christmas to all.

Amy,

Sorry to hear about the heart issues....kinda puts the whole bfs thing into perspective doesn't it! I'll say a prayer for you and your family with the knowledge that you will be just fine.

Take care,

Gary

Amy,

SO many of us BFS'ers have heart irregularities too. I guess that is another similarity that needs to be looked into?

I sent you a pm. I hope that you are feeling better today.

What the heck girl?? Guess I stayed away too long and I'm out of the loop. Speaking as the wife of a man with an artificial aortic valve since 17 (now 40) with the craziest heart beat you have ever heard, I've learned first hand that your heart can do some really wacky things and still work just fine for you. And, a pacemaker is a good reassurance for you (I wish John had one!).

Now you have a good excuse to make all the kids behave so they don't make their teacher stressed :)

I'll be thinking of you!

Shelley
Quiet your mind. The quieter you become, the more you hear.

Thanks everyone! I am doing okay. The pacemaker is working fine and I am only 2% dependent on it, so that is great!
I am having some trouble with the beta blocker I am taking. It makes me sooooooooooooo tired and nausiated. I HATE taking pills and here I am.....on something for life! I am still twitching away. The inside of my knee twitched for a week straight before it decided to take a break!
Once again, thanks for your concern and kind words, I appreciate it.
