Why "Lurking"?

Postby Angie on December 4th, 2007, 7:39 pm

You know when people come out as "lurkers" that sounds kinda odd. You can look at some posts for while before posting, if you do at all. (I know some people here wished I were just a 'lurker'. ) When you say you "lurked" it sounds creepy, like a Peeping Tom or something, so why not say you "perused" the site? Or some of the following, say "I":

checked over
consider closely
contemplated
examined
flipped through
glanced at
inspected
mused
pondered
riff through
scanned
scrutinized
skimmed
studied
surveyed
though about
thumbed through
wandered

"the site" instead? Or you can keep saying you "lurked". No one here pays me much mind anyways.

FYI. I used to be a frequent poster. But now I am just a "lurker". I actually "lurk" quite often. But mostly I only "lurk" to check if I have any PM's. That is because I don't want to leave anyone hanging if they are looking for personal advice from me. All of you thought I forgot about you, but I didn't. Especially you Basso. I "lurk" at your posts the most. Does that scare you?

Hope everyone is doing well.

Basso, those are shockers

I think "I PERUSE the site sounds more posh.

Hello Wovlverine, nice to see you still around. :D

My vote is for either voyeured and/or autopsied. Get's the creepiness thing going right off the bat and sets the tone.

Sharon, don't you ever go anywhere either! I had wanted to metion that I am so glad you're daughter is doing well now. That was such an important example of how important it is to follow your own instincts. I'm really glad you're here, too.

Well, Chris, what's your vote?

Good one Adam! Kris you are going to have to translate that one for those of us who speak English!

Hey Angie ~

English is SO rich compared to Danish so the translation would be as simple and poor as: looking through..........! I think that it covers all your fancy expresions
