68, male, caucasian, started 4-5 months ago, twitches appeared to be major strong ones, calves, thighs, knees, glutes, elbows, shoulders, - now the intensity appears to have decreased but frequency and location has increased. No anxiety...just a Type A personality battling all the evil doers in my world. lol I connected this in my case to the ACE enzyme inhibitors (hypertension meds). Obvious that not all twitching is caused or triggered by the same. As I said in another posting.....the drug classification statistics that I found on internet documents that 65% of men and 50% of women wind up muscle twitching at or about two years on this type of medication. Could other meds contribute? I suspect so such as cholesterol lowering drugs.

Jast....coming from Chinese medicine perspective I am doing a little informal information gathering to compare to my own twitching. If you choose to answer....the additional questions are: 1) do you own any pets? If so...what kind (cat, dog etc)? 2) Are the twitching locations close to joints? Richard

Well I had two cats for 17 years and had the pleasure of cleaning the cat liter several times per day. We even had 2 liter boxes for their convenience since we have a two story dwelling. I am DETERMINED to get to the bottom of this since if I can't fix myself what good am I to my patients. Unfortuantely my investigation so far in discussing this in depth with a vetenarian who is one of my patients....in her opinion toxoplasmosis (parasite) is like most viruses...it is near impossible to get rid of. The MAIN thing we need to do is SUPER BOOST our immune system. As a practitioner of Chinese herbal medicine I will dig further to see if there are ways to get rid of this..... IF this is ONE of the problems as there maybe several. I AM firmly convinced of the mechanism thoough....in each case something caused a drop in our immune systems and in came the disturbance causing the twitching etc. For ME the insult was taking the high blood pressure meds for two years which messed up my immune system and then the cat situation which was already there......and there I was twitching. For others it might bve a different combination but the general idea in my experience is the truth.

my immunesystem is far to active as i have several autoimmune issues. i need to calm it down instead of boosting it:-)
however, i do tibetan medicine for half a year. helped me a lot with my rheuma and twitching until i got these bloody nerve burning stabbing sensations allover. began after x-mas and x-mas food. chinese medicine did not help me at all. but i quite trust the tibetan one,

Tibetan and Ayurvedic are excellent choices. As to Chinese medicine - unfortunately as with most medical modalities - it's all in the hands of the practitioner.
