Twitching question

Postby sarah on December 18th, 2002, 1:16 pm

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this about their calf twitches. When I flex (point my toes up) they go away and when I relax they come back. In other words, I only get the twitches when the muscles are relaxed. I notice this especially after jogging (when my claves seem to twitch alot).

Thanks,
Sarah

I notice the twitches also when I am relaxed, at first I had a hard time allowing myself to relax because they scared me. But now who cares its benign, im fine and so are you. Live life!

think about what a twitch actually is... a small oscillating muscle contraction. It would be pretty hard to have a small twitch while the muscle is contracted (flexed) harder than the twitch oscillates the muscle fibers... so it makes sense that a twitch would go away if you flexed the muscle it was occuring in, until you relaxed it again... and then the twitch would come back. Just like you experienced :-)
