Hi this is Avery informative post.

So I can assume if you have a clinical exam (no EMG) from an experienced neurologist and he cleared me of everything but BFS - then it would be highly unlikely that he could have missed ALS or that an EMG would reveal anything of value. Is this right?

Yes . Clinical exam is way more important then emg, blood work, MRI...... They never miss ALS. They may get it wrong with back issues or a virus but not ALS. like my neuro once said " we no ALS when it walks in the door"

ALS is ruled out not in.
