BFS after spinal fusion

Postby dietzusna78 on June 4th, 2008, 1:15 pm

I am 7 years post-op from L5-S1 spinal fusion. It was a severe disc herniation and resulted in the fusion and also permanent nerve damage to my sciatic nerve. Three years after the fusion, I noticed twitching in my left calf with regular night cramps in my left calf and hamstring. I thought as well as my doctor that it was related to the surgery. Last year I had the surgical hardware removed with some relief of my symptoms. The twitching and cramping have returned, now in both legs. A follow up MRI this spring confirms no nerve root compression or impingement. The only abnormality is scar tissue about the S-1 nerve. I am not planning on seeing a neurologist until I first adjust my diet and nutrition to see if my symtoms become more manageable. Can anyone shed some light in this matter. Bill
