Well everyone, I am fine!!! I swear I was so sick and nervous, I almost threw up. This has never happened to me before.

My neuro did his exam and said I was perfectly normal (at least physically) and I did NOT have any nerve or muscle disease, especially als. He finally gave me a bfs diagnosis and talked about the Mayo study: basically saying that my emg should reassure me even more and that it's NEVER too ealy to have an emg (w/ the twitching already there). He also said that BFS NEVER TURNS INTO ALS!

As for my thigh "atrophy", he didn't even notice it until I pointed it out (to me it looked huge!). He said he didn't know what it was, but it was definitely NOT atrophy! He also said my strength was fine!

THANK YOU SO MUCH TO ALL OF YOU, ESPECIALLY JENN, DAVID, MARCIN... Your posts have kept me sane! Now if I could just keep this feeling, it would be wonderful!

He said to come back in a couple of months if I need reassurance again (what a compassionate man!), but didn't see the need for another emg.

Again, thank you!

Sandy

p.s. he did say that internet is a very bad thing when it comes to looking up symptoms! Also that a lot of info is incorrect to NOT GO THERE. (med sites)

Pam,

last night was so awful for me, I can't even explain it to you! Try to be around people, do not be alone! I don't know if you're religious, but I prayed, a lot!

Like I said earlier, I only hope I can hang on to this feeling.

Don't start doubting the doctor!!

If you even start to think like that, look back at your post!!

The doctor knows - he wouldn't be a specialist if he didn't..

Trust him!!!!

great news...

Sandy-

Great news! I'm glad your appointment went well and you left feeling relieved. Sounds like the neurologist was very helpful in calming your nerves. That's wonderful!

Take care-
Renae :)

And Pam....Good luck with your appointment tomorrow! I'll be thinking of you!

Renae,

Thanks for thinking of me.. I hope my doctor is as good as Sandy's.

There's nothing worse than having a doctor that gives you no feedback.
I'm armed with alot of articles about Levaquin reactions.... so he doesn't think i'm making anything up..
And I'm going to mention BFS and see if he says anything.

It's really great to have people to vent to when you need to - and they don't think you're crazy!!

My husband doesn't understand why I get so worried - he likes me to be the strong one!! I usually am, but when I'm not feeling like I should, I'm a wimp!

Sandy,
it's great news! I know that wonderfull feeling when you are just after the neuro apointment and your exam is normal. It's like you are back in your life! Unfortunetelly in my case it lasts 1-2 days and my fears are back with me. Don't let your fears come back. Trust your doctor. From what you've written he seems to be very profesional doc.

regards
Marcin
