Negative EMGS

Postby KERRI on May 19th, 2003, 6:09 am

The radiologist at work was telling me that there are some cases where people have ALS and the emgs do not show that result for several months, there was a case I was reading that a woman had 3 negatives and she had known of people who had 4 negatives but went on to have als. Is this crap or what, I mean I am thinking EMGS are reliable are they?

My arm was quivering like mad this morning while I was sleeping?

emg will find problems like als . when als people are at the twitching stage , it means they are near the end of the muscle death for the area that twitches..twitching in als is the end of the process , not the start.
people with als have WEAKNESS because of muscle death.
most als , muscle specialists dont even give twitching alone...the time of day unless there is weakness and atrophy.

how long have you twitched?
did you have a exam?
emg?

Over a year of twitching, I have had 4 emgs

tongue 10 months
legs 7 months 1 fascic appeared localized and only in one muscle of this, occasional.

arm at 4 months

all called negatives

i have had about 13 neuro exams

only brisk knee reflexes, which the neurologist did not even comment about. the GP only said something.

THERE IS no grey area , IF YOU HAD ALS YOU WOULD HAVE PROUFOUND WEAKNESS AFTER A YEAR , SOME MUSCLES WOULD BE DEAD .
listen to the neuros...
