Weakness before Atrophy

Not for me

My left thenar is clearly *beep* to be precise and my right is obviously intact but I have no discernible weakness with my left. I still play golf, hold cups, type etc etc but that is clear atrophy and it gets worse very very slowly.

This process has been going on for 1.5 years now in that hand and the atrophy only started when the twitching had stopped.

Sorry, I am a bit confused by your post! Do you mean that you are still okay in your left thenar, still strong even though you notice atrophy? What has your neuro said? Interested as I am having 'hot spit' in left thenar, new to me. I have been a twitcher almost 4 years with the last 2 years less symptoms but everything has flared again with new even scarier symptoms.

Yes, atrophy with no weakness and its not the only place. Top MND doctor has seen it.

BFS/BCFS or 'we don't know' but personally I think it's unlikely it is anything other than the obvious :(

Bah this is silly.

The longer this goes on the more convinced I am have some sort of neurodegenerative disease and the more convinced doctors are of the opposite.

2.5 years of symptoms. No clinical weakness but muscle loss that is obvious to me.

I am going for a mile long swim shortly. Sound like someone with MND? not really.
