Twitching in Left hand on pinky side

Hi, I posted about 5 months ago when i had an internal vibration in my right leg which led me to google it and everything went south from that point...
i had blood works done and everything was fine so i put it down to BFS and moved on... at least i thought!
Im still getting twitches here and there which is fine, im at peace with those...
but last weekend (after a heavy night on the town) i woke up with my left hand twitching, the only trouble is that 5 days later its still twitching in the same spot!
So im back to the point where my fears are coming back to haunt me! keep checking for atrophy keep doing strength tests!
there is no obvious weakness and from what i understand especially of ALS is that twitching ONLY happens once there is clinical weakness and obvious muscle wastaged! I don't have that as far as i can see but it doesn't stop me worrying none the less!
I think im going to book in to see the doc again and maybe get a referal just for my absolute peace of mind!
I have a freind who's husband has ALS and when she says that her husband has similar twitches it freaks me out!
I think it it was a twitch here and there then i wouldn't be over concearned but the fact its in the same spot for the last 5 days thats got me worried!

your situation is known as hotspot and it may last for days and weeks without any significant effect except maybe muscle pain due to involuntary activity.

Hi Yulisar, Thank you for your reply, its not constantly twitching if im "busy" i don't notice at all, but at rest or like now as i typing its doing it, its quite annoyign as it keeps me awake abit at night as im led in bed waiting for it to happen again! and i wake in the middle of the night im waiting for it to happen again!
hopefully its a hotspot that settles down soon and im finding it abit of a distraction.
:D

Hi,
we have a lot in common

internal vibration, right leg, CHECK

partchy wrote:i woke up with my left hand twitching, the only trouble is that 5 days later its still twitching in the same spot!

right hand, but otherwise, same thing CHECK

It's a hotspot, don't worry about it. I have the same thing. It will go away sooner or later. And even if it stays - as long as there is no weakness (and weakness would happen quite fast) there is nothing to worry about!

Take care
Volkmar

hi Volkmar, Nice to know im not the only one, today has been the worst day, my hand has been twitching all day long! seems to have eased abit since getting home but still twitching none the less!
with regards to the weakness, it doesn't feel weak though sometimes my arms (both) feel extra tired in the evenings which is most likely down to anxiety and fatigue!
im booked in to see the doc again friday so might try and push him for a referal to a neurologist!
these hotspots! so they can go on for quite a while i take it?

Hi,

Been back to docs today and had my bloods taken again...
he was quite taken back by my constant twitch on my left hand!
Anyway he also mentioned that my last bloods were fine apart from the Amylase which were high (the last doc never mentioned this) its linked to the Pancreas and it turns out my dad had pancreitis and had his gall bladder removed, there is a genetic link so could explain why i have a pain in my rib area/lower back for the last 5 months!
BAck to the twitch its still going though it did stop last night for about 30 minutes! just when i thought it might be settling down it appeared again! Feels like its never going to go away!
anyway will report back when i hear fro mthe results!

Palmaris brevis spasm had it since the start and can demonstrate it at any time, 18 months later!

Have had this in BOTH hands for coming up to two years (this December). It happens 24/7 in the left hand (like clockwork every couple of seconds). Right hand intermittent (every few minutes). Occasionally hurts but no loss of muscle or function. Eventually you just get use to it - Doesn't really bother me at all now. Regarding the Doctor, I wouldn't worry about his reaction. Mine was the same (he didn't even know about BFS). When I showed the specialist he wasn't concerned at all (got the feeling he thought I was wasting his time).

Had my bloods back today...
Everything accordign to the Doc is fine, even the Amylase which is for the pancreas is normal, CPK levels Normal, Which i understand would be high in the event of any muscle damage/wasting...
Regarding the twitching thing in my hand... Its stopped! been stopped now for about a week! still get a few twitches here and there but the one in my hand that was worrying has settled down.

I said this 5 months ago that i will live and stop worrying but i realise that it is nearly impposble to do, all i can do is take each day at a time and try to reduce my fears!

Thanks you for all the help and messages... Really appreciate it and knowing im not the only one is reassuring.

:D

Now, don't worry when you get a new hotspot elsewhere because chances are you will! I have had one of my toes twitching for about 5 weeks now. Last year I had a thumb twitch that lasted for months. Its to be expected with BFS.
Take care, and glad your bloodwork came back fine.
