Help Eyelid Twitchers!

Postby twitchydds on April 6th, 2014, 4:09 pm

OK......this is getting nuts. I have had an upper left eyelid twitch almost everyday for 16 months. For about 6 months the twitches have moved to the right eye. Today starting from this morning All 4 eyelids have been twitching, including the area between the lid and eyebrow. Please someone reassure me that this has happened to them or you know BFSers that this has happened to. It is driving me crazy! Yes I twitch everywhere else all day 24/7, but my eye area is driving me mad!

Hey Twitchydds I'm new on here as well but I twitch all over as well more in my calves both legs after I'm active doing something this has been happening for about three months. I've seen a Neuro Specialist in ALS in Dallas Tx. I mentioned eye twitching he said the same thing for every other muscle It twitches too lol. I had a emg of 3 limbs and para spinals and under chin he said all negative and that I had BFS and anxiety so maybe that could help you. They are just as annoying as hell been there done that and I still get them. My biggest thing now is my right foot feels like it's not there and it feels really weak but I can do all the strenght test hope this ain't something new popping up I had two neg EMG in the last 3months my symptoms started in January so good luck but I don't think the eye twitches are anything just annoying dude good luck. I bet you strain your eyes a lot being a dentist I mean you are constantly looking at small objects in people's mouths and then looking at a computer.

Thanks Red Raider. I have a BFS diagnosis from The Cleveland Clinic....so no fear of ALS for me. I am just trying to find out if I am the worst eye twitcher in the world. Just annoyed as hell. I get twitches everywhere but the eye muscles *beep* me off. I agree that it is most likely from my job. I had a Botox consult last week from an Opthamologist. May be going that route soon to shut them the hell up. If you had clean EMG's and saw an ALS specialist you are out of the woods...I promise. Thanks for the reply. Hardly anyone ever reply's to my posts. My eye twitches must sound boring to them...lol. Take care. Go Texas Tech.

Right on man that's me nobody every posts on my stuff either dude thanks for the encouragement on the EMG I hope I'm out of the wood for ALS my first symptoms were in January and I had 2 EMGs done one by a ALS specialist so I should be good you think? Anyway if you ever need anything please feel free hit me up. Nice to see you got the Red Raiders haha "Guns Up" so with a neg EMGs I'm in the clear correct just wondering I just get scared because I show some weakness in my ankles sometimes and hands get stiff. Forgot to add I had Botox not in the eye though but in my neck and it did wonders my man something to strongly consider they are just very expensive thank God for insurance. I was in the Military 7 years and have military neck straight as a board brother so I'm thinking maybe have my problems are coming from my neck I've had Mri's MRAs and show no pinched nerves but I do have degenerative disc disease so I guess my neck stop is the rheumatologist you know have a good evening Jim. One last question when did you have your EMG done and how far were you into your symptoms before you had it done if you don't mind me asking Jim?

I started in December of 2012. Went and saw my GP in January 2013. He wasnt too concerned but said I could have a brain MRI for peace of mind. I waited until September 2013 to get MRI.....results were normal, it was clear. Decided I would never be satisfied until I saw a neurologist. Saw a neuro end of January 2014 at Cleveland Clinic. After clinical exam diagnosed me with BFS and said he felt EMG was not necessary but would give me one if I insisted. I said "if it were you, you wouldn't get one?" He said "no". I trusted him. It was the Cleveland Clinic for crying out loud. He probably also felt after 13 months of twitching with a perfect clinical that I was well out of the woods for the feared diseases. Sent me out the door and said have a nice life. I asked him what I could expect from the syndrome. He said nobody knows if it will ever go away or not, but most likely will be a rollercoaster....meaning ups and downs. I am still waiting for the ups....lol. So anyways....no EMG for me. I can pretty much guarantee you after having clear EMG's you are fine. I am somewhat of a BFS vet now do to the fact that I am way over fearing nasty diseases......but still struggle with anything on the face, especially my eyelids. Feel free to contact me with any questions or anything at all. I know what a mental nuisance this crap can be.

My neuros told me that eyelid twitching rules ALS out. They told me that it is NEVER a sign of ALS, they also told me that it is benign, a sign of stress.

Nice good deal! Ive been worried sick these past couple of weeks. It started in my right foot it started feeling weak which still is I'm not twitching as bad as I used to be but now my right hand feels weak and weird I feel I really have to concentrate on picking things up. My hand feels like it is in glue when I open and close it just stiff no pain strength is kinda up or down I feel it more in my pinky but I haven't had a twitch yet in my right hand. Every where else but there this has me concerned. I had a EMG in Feb but it's creeping back into my mind that maybe something is sneaking up on me. It's all on my right side I don't know man.

Hey Jim, I agree eye twitches are so annoying! Since a young child I got little eyelid twitches but since BFS they are much more extreme. I've had those ones between the lid and eyebrow that go off like lightening bolts. My newest one is a small fine twitch to my upper lid that actually moves my eyelashes. When they are acting up I cut out all caffeine and get to bed early. Cheers!
