Herpes Virus

I have just been told that I carry the Herpes simplex 1 and 2 viral strain. I have had cold sores around my mouth for years and just recently stared getting them inside under the left side of my tongue and on the roof of my mouth. However, I had never had an outbreak below the waste line. Since this virus is the cousin to Chicken Pox, which I have also had, could it be effecting my nerves just like Shingles does? Could there be a connection here? If the Chicken Pox virus can lay dormant in your nerves and later in your 60's cause Shinlges, has this been explored as a reason for some such as ourselves to devleope this disorder? I know that could explain the tingle in my tongue, but it would not explain the twitching in my tongue.
