Briefly: researches FINALLY admitted that a lot of people with panick disorders have concomitant physical conditions.
A - anxiety, L - ligament laxity (hypermobility), P - pain (including migraines and various miaglyas and IBS) I - immune diseases (including allergies, thyreoiditis etc.), M - mood disorder (sometimes including bipolar disorder of II type)

fits perfectly. The only thing it to find a cure :)

here probably new line of promising drugs may emegre in the next few years - based on antagonists of orexin receptors. Orexines are substances involwed in reward system operation and in various forms of dependent behaviour. So those new drugs will help to fight anxiety not on the level of the symptome (anxiety itself) but on the basic level of supposed endorphine reward forming a vicious loops of anxiety and pleasure.

A quote from the paper, really sweet to all who suffer from 'imaginary diseases': "Patients who appear to have certain somatic disorders — illnesses for which there is no detectable medical cause and which physicians may consider to be imagined by the patient — may instead have a genetic propensity to develop a series of real, related illnesses," says Dr. Coplan, an expert in neuropsychopharmacology.

ALPIM is not included into DSM yet but it is on the way.

DSM stays dor Diagnostics (whatever is for S, I do not remember) Manual, a book lisitng all conditions deemed to be isolated, described and systematised - with the symptomes. signs. clinical picture description, etc. A comprehensive reference accepted in USA and in some other countries (in national versions however, which may slightly differ).
