New symptoms... post surgery

Hi guys,

I have a question, but first let me give you a brief summary of my actual situation ... I wont go into detail about how long I have been twitching and all (3.5 years) but on June 8 I had knee surgery on my right knee to repair a torn ACL and Meniscus. Ever since that surgery, my LEFT thigh has been getting more and more numb. I have numbness mostly when I a lying down, so its quite hard to sleep. But in addition to that, I have pins and needles feelings and the are painful and my thigh gets quite warm. There is a specific spot on my thigh where the pain is focused on mostly ... not cool at all. My surgeon said that this numbness has nothing to do with my surgery. I had a general anesthetics and not the spinal one, so the doctor said that it has absolutely nothing to do with the anesthetics or the surgery.

Questions:

1) Thoughts? This has been lasting for 4 weeks now ... and trust me its not getting anything better ... so I am getting a little worried.
2) Should I go see my neuro?
3) Do you guys think that this is a normal symptom for BFS'ers? Have any of you had something similar and if so how long did t last and how did you get rid of it?
4) Do you think its a symptom of AL_S? I read a few places that numbness and pins and needles feelings were symptoms but I know that we cant believe everything that we read.

Thanks guys & gals for your replys, always appreciated and take care.

Will

I don't subscribe to the no sensory symptoms in ALS theory but what you describe does not sound related to ALS.

I had ACL reconstruction about 20yrs ago. I still have numbness in lower thigh and upper shin around my knee from the surgery. The surgeon told me this may happen because he was cutting around some nerves. It feels kind weird but not painful. Far from dibilitating. Of course im not a doctor so if you are concerned see your doctor, but if I had to guess I would guess the surgeon may have cut some nerves. Definely sounds nothing like ALS. Get that out of your head.

Im an engineer not a doctor so see a doctor if you are concerned. Anything I say is just guessing based on some logic and my own personal experience. Take it for what it's worth.
Perhaps you changed your gait after the surgery to compensate for the knee. This could cause nerve issues on the other leg. Doesn't sound anything like ALS. Don't let your mind go there.
