I was 43.5, I am now 51 and still alive. There was a clinical study done on PNH (peripheral nerve hyperexcitability, a.k.a. BFS) that showed the "average" age was mid 40s. There was also an informal survey on this site when I first started, that as I recall had a lot of people in their 40s. So you're dead on :-)

Cheers,
Bill

I wish I hadn't read dead on. Now I am freaking out!!!

Just kidding. I am 39 now, and I was about 32 or 33 when I first got BFS. However I was showing early symptoms of it way back in my early 20's. You just get used to it after a while.
BFS FAQ:
1. No, that's not bulbar
2. No, the location doesn't matter
3. Yes, we have all had that symptom
4. No, you're not the exception
5. No, that's not ominous
6. No, you don't need an EMG
7. Yes, you will be fine

Mine started at 53, which for me has been extremely stressful due to my age being 'about right' for mnd.

Twitching started right before my 54th birthday. I will be 56 in a few weeks - so almost 2 glorious years of all this jazz. Not a fan, but you have to learn to deal with it all. Managing your stress level helps, but even then it is there. I say once those floodgates are open, it feels as if they cannot be completely shut.
