Some reassurance for anyone who needs it

Postby violetmom on June 6th, 2013, 9:28 am

For the past 8 months, I have been consumed nonstop and I mean nonstop with worry over als. I could be talking to someone, watching tv, playing with my kids , but in my mind , I was still thinking about als or more specific, dying a slow death and leaving my sweet kids. I have an 8 month old and I have missed out on so much joy with him because of all of this. I just wanted to say to anyone who is going through this, please please don't waste another minute. I have been to SIX neuros, 2 of them neuromuscular specialists. In a nutshell, this is all benign. I twitch, head to toe. I have hotspots in weird places that last for weeks. I "feel"weak. I've had trouble swallowing, even talking. This is what I KNOW now. If it wee als, you wouldn't be on this board. Also, I've noticed most people here have health anxiety in general which I must admit, I have.
This week in church, our sermon was on the power of the mind and strongholds we might have. Also, the power if words. Such as, tell a child they're stupid, guess what, they think they're stupid. We are telling ourselves 24/7 we have an awful disease, so how can our bodies and minds not believe it.
Sorry for the long rant but I just wish I could make 1 person not waste another second on this. It's all for naught.

Excellent post Violetmom! I try to focus a majority of my posts on raising awareness that people are empowered to change the course of their lives through their thoughts, intentions, and beliefs. Everything we do is based on these things, just as every fire starts with a spark. When you start off the bat with limiting thoughts, intentions, and beliefs you immediately cut yourself off at the knees. Where we direct our energy and attention is always up to us. We always have a choice to change directions in every instant. An entire lifetime of negative thinking can be turned around with one simple desicion to do so followed by action. It is one thing to read this or hear this from someone else, but when a person has this realization for themselves it is life changing. Congratulations and thank you for sharing. :)
If your mind is your own worst enemy, why not make friends with it and turn it into your greatest ally? Mental discipline is achievable and there is help available. Learn what works for you, practice, and change your life for the better.

Wise words Violetmom. That's all I have to say.

Actually, that's a lie.

Thank you.
