TWITCHYDOC, can you explain better?

Postby Marcos on May 11th, 2013, 11:04 pm

Dear Twitchydoc, i saw in your old posts that you always want to have a real study about bfs. Now you mentioned about 3 new studies (or articles) that say, besides other good things, it was possible to establish clearly that bfs has a different origin of mnd's cases. So my question is: this conclusion should not reassure us? Now we have a study done by specialists about bfs? Is that right or i misuunderstood ? And last question: widespread fascis are no longer a good sign? Sorry about my english. Marcos

Hi,
unfortunately, the BFS study will not be finished most likely as the researchers (MND specialists and Al Awaji criteria contributors) do not have enough patients, they have had only 9 patients with more generalized fasciculations and then around 22 people from here as a secondary data with limited value. Also I assume no study will be done..
As for these papers, I do not think it is a good idea to discuss it here as not all of the new findings will match what people want to hear. But on the other hand, AFAIK, this is for the first time that a top notch ALS specialist publishes and mentiones BFS and diffuse fasciculations being a possibility which means it is getting to be more official and for some neuros also "real".
