well, ironically enough the very reason I posted this was due to a couple of the threads that They Don't Believe Me just reposted here....! I found it very odd to hear about 5 years of slurred speech only yet a diagnosis of bulbar als....given all I have read about it, wouldn't such a case be so unusual and make lots of medical journals...isn't it almost unheard of? But I don't begrudge the poster. I just wanted to understand

the clean emgs I find easier to understand cause both say they presented with upper motor neuron signs only which would not be found on emg. BUT would show an abnormal in office neuro exam. We all have technically a lower motor neuron sign (not really cause we do not have ALS) but twitching is a sign of the lower motor neurons...and that is what an EMG looks for and can find. and even so, there were only about 3 people who even chimed in that they had clean EMGs and then ALS... very rare indeed
