I can VERIFY Kit's Atrophy/Dent post...

Postby backagain on January 11th, 2008, 9:45 am

I was born with severe bi-lateral clubfeet (It is called talipes equinavarus). One of the physical abnomalities that comes with this handicap is severely undeveloped calf muscles. My calves are almost non-existent. When you talk about atrophy or muscle wasting, it is not subtle, it is pronounced. My legs look more like "drumsticks" not like legs. I have worried about twitches in my things in the past, but I am pretty familiar with atrophy and I can tell you that atrophy is not something that just sneaks up on you...I have a lot of twtiches in my thighs, that is because my thighs have to carry all of my body weight in order for me to walk. I have some very strong thighs, but by days end I also have some very tired thighs. I guess my point is, Kit is right, muscle wasting and weakness, as least the kind that comes with AL* would be really obvious.

As my neuro said, "If you had it, we would both know it real quick."
