Nixed the coffee, changed the diet?

Postby ann on September 27th, 2004, 5:45 pm

How many BFS-ers have given up coffee or experimented with changes in their diet to relieve symptoms??

What were the results?

The only thing that seems to help at least my mental state is more sleep, but w/2 kids...

hmmm...gosh. I wish there was a way too conduct our own controlled study....perhaps if a group of us agreed to be our own guinnea pigs a give up something like caffeine or start taking something like large quantities of magnesium for an extended period of time....Ooohhh I dunno. Hmmm.

Thanks for everyones responses...I just wish we could come up with something conclusive. Darn.

I gave up nutrasweet and I do not drink caffine. I took magnesium, calcium, vit B12 and a super charged multivitamin religiously for 3 months. My BFS continued. The only thing that gave real relief was klonopin. Now I am off that. My mental attitude is much better now 5 + months into twitching and my symptoms are more managable. I'm on a normal multivitamin now, lots of water and I try not to focus on the twitch.

My neuro advised that I stay away from caffeine and other stimulants, so I do. Also, I take lots of magnesium and calcium, which seem to lessen my twitches.

I gave up Nicotene just 1 week ago, it's helped a little, and I did cut back on Caffeine as well. No significant change.
