Does anyone Jerk?

Postby luluq07 on August 18th, 2011, 12:31 pm

I twitch, lol, doesn't everyone here...
however, sometimes my leg will jerk or shoulder.. Like before you go to sleep you know if you feel your leg jerk..
that occasionally happens to me, does anyone else experience it?

YES. Everytime I try to fall asleep, my fingers, wrist, shoulder will jerk. During the day, it's twitching but when I'm almost asleep, it's jerking. -Matt

Yep. I don't jerk as much as I twitch thank goodness. But legs, and sometimes shoulder/arms will jerk, usually when I'm lying down.

Yes, all the darn time. Didn't sleep once for three days because the jerking was so violent and severe. Very scary and it's not the normal falling asleep jerks. Happens in your throat, face, while driving.

Obviously it is not normal when it is severe, I had some weird reaction when I first tried Neurontin for 2 nights. But besides that fortunately only at normal level. Hope it will disappear soon!

As mommylondon just explained the difference between twitch and jerk to me (in Germany we have only one word for it): at days I twitch, at night I jerk. Ans this sucks as my hands jerk so much that I wake up from it. Worst is when I'm half asleep in the evening or morning.

My feet are the only parts that jerk when I'm not in bed, but only sitting on a chair. All of a sudden they will push down as if I was to kick the gas pedal for a second. Very weird. But yesterday my legs somehow managed to do that with both feet at the same time. My hands jerk in a way that they move all fingers at the same time as if they were making a fist. Or just move to the side. My hubby jerks alot at night. He also has myoclonus when falling asleep so bad, that he sometimes wakes me up with that..

Yea, sometimes. I think it all has to do with the muscle that twitches. If it is a major muscle, then you get a "jerk". If it is a smaller one, then you get a twitch. I get them all. :(

The jerking has become my biggest problem. It only happens as I'm drifting off to sleep, but it happens EVERYTIME I drift off to sleep. It's mostly in my back and shoulder blades. They just jerk me awake.. strong enough that it moves my arm. It's very strange and nerveracking. I will sometimes get it in my wrist and chest as well. I guess its a good sign that it never happens during the day, only when I'm trying to sleep so maybe that's a sign that it's hyperexcited nerves or something. I don't know. This is all one big mystery to me.

This happens to me also and it happened alot when I first got BFS 2 and a half years ago. It's all part of the nerve hyperexcitablilty. Nothing to worry about.
