Docen, hotspots are very normal for condition and I used to get them in that area and many others all the time. They are all a part of the syndrome including the widespread ones.

Hi

TwichingDoc, why don't you presribe yourself trobalt / retigabine/ instead of tegretol ??
I was curious about your opinion about trobalt.. I'm almost 3 years into this twiching experience and about to try retigabine and naltrexone..

Fargo,
Tegretol has been reported as very effective by neurologists, so was Trileptal. I have no experience with these you mentioned.

I'm very interested in Tegretol and lamictal, I will ask my doc this month to try me on one of the two....

Is there any big side effects with the tegretol like there is with lemictal? I.E. (SJS)

RandyR, I have never experienced any side effects, thought there are really long list of them. Except for watching your liver function, I would not be worried.

Thanks for the reply

Liver function?? Is it something they have to do random blood tests for? I'm confused...

Randy, the doctors usually run these tests every month or two to make sure your liver works fine as some people can develop liver problems like with any other medicaments. Nothing special, its done also if you are taking strong ATB for longer period of time.

Thanks for your answer TwichingDoc but you do read other threads on this board, don't you?
Then you must have noticed retigabine as one of the potassium channel openers, do you have an opinion on that and not necessarily experience? :) Would that be worth trying? Thanks:)

Is it taken every couple of months for the first few, or the whole time you are on it? Thanks
