Having excellent results with MAG PHOS

Postby raindog on April 18th, 2011, 6:34 pm

I was told to try taking a suppliment of MAG PHOS by a friend who uses it for his muscle cramps he gets from having crohns disease. 3 weeks into the suppliment my cramps have reduced by at least 75 % and although the twitching is still going off it seems to be not nearly has bad.

This very cheap med (450 tabs was less than £5), ...ive been taking 8 per day 2x4 morning and night, and so far has easily been the best med ive taken, having previously used quinnine, phenytoin, acetaxolomide gabapentin etc that did nothing but give me some horrible side effects

This is the one i have taken

I think its Magnesium phosphate salt. I have and still do eat organic cocao nibs which are very rich in magnesium, so i wouldnt have thought i was deficiant. Maybe its more a direct way into your system because the pellets are placed under your tongue?.

Anyway another cramp free night and better sleep is worth every penny. :D

Magnesium generally is pretty effective against cramps, even in short period. However for fasciculations, one would need to take it for nearly year (been told this by two specialiasts).

do whatever works :D

funny story - I've tried magnesium supplements a while ago, and noticed that they seemed to make my twitching worse/more intense - dark choco especially :P

maybe it was a reverse placebo - my subconscious didn't want to trust magnesium for some reason

have you tried vit D ? I think it helps both calc and mag absorbtion - i may be mistaken though

I dont think its like taking a bog standard magnesium suppliment ...these are natural salts. Still working well with the tightness soreness and cramping :D

heh, sorry to bug you again raindog, have you ever tried potassium supplements ?

Another question: Have you noticed any effects on your twitching through your continued supplementation ?

I tried cacao nibs - they are a bit hard to eat plain, but indeed good in yogurt.

The twitching is still here, so i'd say no in that respect, mentally i'm pretty much spot on because this stops the twitching grinding you down. Cramping is still very much improved as it was getting a major problem.

I'm gonna try it because it's not the twitching that really bothers me so much as the cramping and sensory issues.

does it say how much mag is in each tablet ? I Looked the product up on several sites and couldn't find any description on dosage.

No it doesnt say how much magnesuim, these are magnesuim phosphate salts so i dont think its a normal magnesuim suppliment. All i can say is that the cramping is almost gone, and tons better than anything ive tried. I also had unstable diastolic blood pressure ie it was high 90 - 110 and since ive taken these its been very stable at around 85 with no blood pressure tablets. I see my neuro again in 3 weeks and i'm telling him about these tablets to see if it can help him find out the cause of my ion channelapathy.
